Two New Informative Resources Available for Wounded, Ill and Injured Service Members
In observance of Warrior Care Month, the Department of Defense released two new resources to assist recovering Service members, their families, and those who care for or assist them.
The first resource is available at warriorcare.mil, a web site which provides a Wounded, Ill and Injured Compensation and Benefits Handbook. The Handbook is designed to help Service members who are wounded, ill and injured, as well as their family caregivers, navigate through the military and veteran disability, evaluation, compensation and benefits programs that are designed to help them. Click here to view the web site and Handbook.
The second resource located at nationalresourcedirectory.org is a collaborative effort among the Departments of Defense, Labor, and Veterans Affairs, to provide a web-based directory of valuable resources. It delivers information on, and access to, the full range of medical and non-medical services and resources needed to achieve the Service members' personal and professional goals across the transitions from recovery to rehabilitation to community reintegration. The Directory provides information from federal, state and local governmental agencies; veteran service and benefit organizations; non-profit community-based and faith-based organizations; academic institutions, professional associations and philanthropic organizations. The web site was formally premiered at a ceremony held at the Bob Wilson Naval Hospital in Balboa Park in San Diego on November 17, 2008. Click here to view the Directory.
