SDMAC was established because the founders believed it was necessary that an organization be stood up which would have as it singular purpose, the support of military and defense industry-related issues in the San Diego Region. Such an organization must be free to deal with issues the military won't raise in public, or issues on which they feel that they can't get a fair hearing. The organization must be able to develop and argue positions quickly, particularly on topics that might potentially conflict with the interest of the business community or other members of the private sector. SDMAC has lived up to that purpose and been in the forefront of recent and current issues in the San Diego Community such as the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 1995, the San Diego Regional Airport Site Selection and the Navy Broadway Complex. We invite you to visit our news page for information on current topics of interest to the SDMAC organization.
The cornerstone event of the SDMAC is our monthly Breakfast meeting, which takes place on the Third Wednesday of the month at 0730 at the Admiral Kidd Catering Center located at the ASW Training Center on Harbor Drive in San Diego. These Breakfast meetings feature a prominent speaker from within the Defense Department, both uniformed and civilian, as well as elected official at all levels. Past speakers include the CNO and the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and the Commandant of the Coast Guard to name a few. These monthly breakfast events provide an excellent opportunity to hear first hand, comments from senior officials on those topics of current interest to all who are associated with the military community, as well as providing a venue for networking with both the uniformed and civilian members of the defense community in San Diego. Please visit our events page for information on our next event. We look forward to having you join us.
