Re-cap about Propel and Navy Gold Coast 2018

This past week the San Diego Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) featured their 30th Annual Department of the Navy Gold Coast Small Business Procurement Event at the San Diego convention center. The NDIA Department of the Navy Gold Coast Event is the premier Navy procurement conference in the country. Gold Coast provides a forum to educate, guide, and assist businesses, large and small, in support of the warfighter mission within Department of the Navy and throughout the DOD. If you’re engaged in the defense industry you wouldn’t have wanted to miss this event. Kicking off the event on Monday August 6th the Propel San Diego team gave a presentation to several attendees who escaped the heat and came to the San Diego Convention center verses participating in the golf tournament. Jo Marie Diamond of the East County EDC gave a compelling presentation to the benefits of using Connectory.com as a means of exposing your businesses capabilities to others in the defense industry. Cindy Gompper Graves shared valuable information about the various projects South County EDC has been working on for those in the UAS/UAV Defense Industry, specifically the aerial test facility located in Chula Vista, CA.

Tuesday and Wednesday were very productive as Propel partners interacted with 1,568 attendees that crossed the exhibition floor inside the San Diego Convention center. The two major programs supporting Propel San Diego are the Defense Innovation Voucher which will provide up to $ 15,000 in complimentary consulting services to San Diego defense companies, and the website Connectory.com originating out of the East County EDC office. The third program is the Defense Spending Platform visualization tool located right here on SDMAC's website. The data visualization tool allows registered members access to data maps showing the dollar amounts of defense contracts awarded around San Diego County. Many of the individuals we interacted with were happy to know about the programs, and those not from the San Diego region wish their regions offered similar programs. The deadline for applying to the Defense Innovation Voucher is August 20th so please take a few minutes to fill out the application and give your organization a chance to be considered for the complimentary consulting services, as well as the $ 25,000 grand prize. The companies chosen for this program will be announced mid-September via a press conference held by SDMAC and Propel representatives. Please visit the Propel San Diego page for more information regarding the program.

The Propel San Diego Program Manager will be available during the SDMAC breakfast, August 22 at the Admiral Kidd Catering center, to talk with individuals about the program and some of the business incentives they've developed. If you work in the defense industry and have not attended an SDMAC breakfast, add the date to your calendar and try to attend. Information about SDAMC breakfasts can be found on the SDMAC calendar page.
