About the SDMAC Military Veteran Student of the Year Scholarship

The SDMAC Military Veteran Student of the Year scholarship was founded in 2014 to help bridge the tuition gap between the time when GI Bill benefits expire and the amount time it takes to complete undergraduate degrees in today’s high-demand Science, Technology, Math & Engineering (STEM) fields. The inaugural scholarship was awarded in 2016 to a military Veteran at San Diego State University (SDSU), followed by a second scholarship in 2017.

In 2018, the scholarship was expanded to California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) and, in 2019, to San Diego Miramar College, a college of the San Diego Community College District. To date, a total of 16 SDMAC Military Veteran Student of the Year Academic Scholarships have been awarded to military Veteran college students pursuing STEM degrees in the Southern California Region.
