SAN DIEGO, CA, May 16, 2018 – The San Diego Military Advisory Council (SDMAC) Foundation today announced it has received matching donations from Navy Federal Credit Union and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) to support the SDMAC Military Veteran Student of the Year academic scholarship. “We are grateful for the generous donations from Navy Federal Credit Union and GA-ASI to support the SDMAC Military Veteran Student of the Year academic scholarship,” said Pete Hedley, President of SDMAC Foundation. “These donations will enable us to positively impact more Veterans in our community by helping them to earn STEM degrees without incurring significant debt after their GI Bill runs out.”
“We view this as a unique opportunity to give back to our Veterans as they prepare for careers in STEM fields,” said Richard Allen, regional manager for Navy Federal. “It’s our mission to support the military community and partnering with SDMAC on this scholarship will help more Veterans achieve their goals.”
“GA-ASI is thrilled to support the SDMAC Military Veteran Student of the Year Academic Scholarship,” said David R. Alexander, president, Aircraft Systems, GA-ASI. “Veterans make some of the best employees in today’s workforce and we are honored to help them complete their degrees as they prepare for STEM careers.”
